DoDEA to prioritize local applicants for Guam educator vacancies
Effective Nov. 7, 2023, the Department of Defense Education Activity – Pacific Region will begin filling Guam educator vacancies through EAS utilizing local referral lists prior to consideration from worldwide referral lists.
Current local Guam resident applicants who are only interested in vacancies in Guam should ensure their EAS application reflects their desire to be considered solely for jobs on-island. To do this, once logged into EAS select the "Personal Information" section and change your "Applicant Class" from "Worldwide" to "Local.” You will then proceed to the "Target Location and Availability Date (Local Applicants Only)" section of your EAS application. Ensure the school year shows 2023-2024. Go to the "Interest Area" and select the schools within Guam at which you are interested in being considered. Then, click “Submit.”
All other applicants who either do not currently live in Guam, or, reside in Guam but are interested in Guam positions and other worldwide locations should ensure their EAS application appropriately reflects their locations of interest. Once logged into your EAS account, verify in the "Personal Information" section that your "Applicant Class" is set to "Worldwide.” You will then proceed to the "Target Location and Availability Date" section of your EAS application. Ensure the school year shows 2023-2024. You can then choose the locations in which you are interested. If you are interested in any positions overseas, ensure you select "Yes" to the question under "Interest Area.” Then, you must select what countries you are interested in under the “DoDEA Overseas” tab. Proceed then to select what schools you are interested in under the “DoDEA Stateside,” “DoDEA Guam” and “Virtual School” tabs. Once complete, click “Submit.”
EAS local referral lists for Guam will be pulled and sent to the hiring manager first. If no applicants are selected from the local list or the list is exhausted, then a worldwide referral list will be pulled and sent to the hiring manager (if a selection is made from the local list, then a worldwide list will not be issued). Prospective applicants should make the necessary changes to their EAS application before November 7th. No referral lists will be sent between October 27 and November 6.
